Dooru (Anantnag), May 23: Waseem Ahmad Bhat, a 25-year-old youth from Anantnag district of south Kashmir secured 7th All India Rank (AIR) in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination.

Despite qualifying for the UPSC examination last year, he decided to improve his ranking.

Today, as the UPSC results were declared, Waseem’s dedication and perseverance paid off, positioning him among the top candidates in the country.

Waseem’s achievement spread like a wild fire in the serene hamlet of Bragam Dooru as he qualified for the UPSC for the second time.

Waseem’s father Mohd Yousuf Bhat is working at the Apiculture Department as a gardener.

Waseem attended a local school in Dooru before attending the National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Srinagar to study engineering.

Waseem is as of now undergoing training for the Indian Railways Services (IRS), for which he qualified at AIR 225 last year.

His family back home is overjoyed to see their ward emerge as Kashmir’s topper.

“He called home this afternoon. I wasn’t feeling well, but this excitement overwhelmed my illness, and we’re on cloud nine. The idea to take this prestigious exam came to him during his course at NIT, and he moved to Delhi for it,” his relative explained.
