Ganderbal, Oct 05: Ganderbal Press Association (GPA) on Thursday held its inaugural General Body elections here at Government Degree College. The elections were conducted with transparency and impartiality as the key leaders were selected to lead the association in promoting free and fearless journalism.
The newly-elected President, Mir Aftab Ahmed, brings a wealth of experience and dedication to the field of journalism, while Ghulam Nabi Raina was elected as the Vice President, and Saleem Wani assumed the role of General Secretary. Treasurer responsibilities were taken on by Raja Syed Rather, and Hadi Hidayat was nominated as the Spokesperson of the Association.
Under the watchful eye of ADDC Ganderbal, Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani and Principal Government Degree College Fozia Fatima; the election committee led by Ayaz Sofi ensured that the elections were smoothly and transparently conducted. Members Hadi Hidayat, Aaqib Rasool, Mukhtar Ahmad, and Adil Mustafa played a pivotal role in the election process.
An oath ceremony was also held with the newly-elected President, Vice President, General Secretary and Treasurer pledging their commitment to upholding the constitution and framework of the Ganderbal Press Association. The team also vowed to work tirelessly for the betterment of both the journalism community and society as a whole, focusing on promoting free, fair, and fearless journalism while eliminating yellow and pseudo journalism.
The Ganderbal Press Association expressed heartfelt gratitude to Snowland Hotels and Resorts Sonamarg, Star Knights (a group of star companies), New Dreamland Educational Institute Ganderbal, and Master Mechanics Ganderbal for their valuable cooperation and support during this landmark election process.
With a new leadership team now in place, the Ganderbal Press Association is poised to continue its vital role in advancing the principles of journalism, ensuring the integrity of news reporting, and serving the interests of both the press and the community it serves.
