Srinagar, Dec 01: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, V.K. Bidhuri, on Sunday assured that the administration is fully prepared to tackle the challenges posed by the upcoming winter season. Speaking to reporters in Srinagar, Bidhuri stated, “We have made plans to ensure basic facilities in far-flung areas and are fully committed to keep roads open and services running even during heavy snowfall.”
Addressing concerns about electricity in the Valley, Bidhuri acknowledged that unscheduled power cuts remain a challenge. He explained, “Though a curtailment schedule is in place, overloading often leads to transformers burning out. We are working to address this issue and prevent unnecessary outages.” The administration is hopeful of minimizing power cuts this winter, with efforts to ensure a steady power supply and avoid disruptions.
Bidhuri also addressed past issues, including delays in snow clearance and ambulance services, which had garnered public attention. “A detailed inquiry is underway into incidents that went viral on social media. We are taking steps to ensure such problems don’t happen again,” he said. He assured that a comprehensive action plan is being implemented to maintain basic services across the region. “The administration is fully involved, and we are working to implement the action plan 100% on the ground,” he added.
On the ongoing Jammu and Kashmir Constable recruitment exams, Bidhuri emphasized that all necessary arrangements had been made for their smooth and fair conduct. “Around 1,13,500 candidates are appearing for the exams in the Kashmir region, with 398 examination centres set up in different locations,” he noted. To ensure fairness, special supervisors were stationed at frisking points, and every effort was made to guarantee a transparent and smooth process.
“The administration’s focus is on maintaining transparency. Every candidate deserves a fair chance, and all arrangements were in place to ensure that exams are conducted without any issues,” Bidhuri concluded.
