Kulgam, Aug 04: The family of the missing soldier who was found in Kulgam, on Friday expressed gratitude to the security forces and the LG administration for their tireless efforts in recovering their missing son.
The scene at their well-kept two-storey house painted a picture of relief and elation, with visitors streaming in to share toffees, tea, and juice in celebration of the soldier’s safe return.
Javaid Ahmad Wani, 25, an army soldier posted in the Ladakh region, had been home since Eid-ul-Adha and was scheduled to resume duties last Monday. However, during a routine grocery shopping trip to a nearby village, he mysteriously disappeared, leaving his family in deep anguish and worry.
His father Mohd Ayoub said that for five long days, the family and the loved ones prayed fervently for Javaid’s safe return, until the moment when hope was reignited.
“On Thursday, after dawn prayers, the message appeared on phones that Javaid Ahmad had been recovered – around 100 worshippers in the Masjid had tears of joy and prayers of gratitude on their lips,” he said.
The police, after the soldier’s recovery, arranged for the family to meet their son, an emotional moment that brought an end to their days of distress. “Amid the darkness, light overtook it all as I saw Javaid with my own eyes, safe and in well-being,” expressed his relieved mother.
The first official confirmation of his recovery came through a tweet from Kashmir Zone Police: “Missing Army jawan has been recovered by Kulgam Police. Joint interrogation will start shortly after a medical checkup. Further details shall follow: ADGP Kashmir.”
Expressing their gratitude, Ayoub thanked the police, army, and other security agencies for their “unwavering dedication” to the successful recovery of his beloved son. “The police and others showed us immense support and helped us through these trying times. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the Superintendent of Police (SP) Kulgam and the Governor administration,” he added.
