Ensure all beneficiaries are covered under welfare schemes: DC Kulgam

Kulgam, July 13: Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan on Saturday emphasised the need to ensure that all eligible beneficiaries are covered under various welfare schemes.
The DC urged the Social Welfare Department to work diligently to ensure that all eligible beneficiaries receive timely assistance and that the benefits of these schemes reach every corner of the district.
Khan said this while chairing a meeting of Officers to review the functioning of Social Welfare and implementation of various beneficiary and pension schemes of the government in the district.
District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) informed the chair that under the Integrated Social Security Scheme, 29082 cases have been sanctioned and under the National Social Assistance Programme target of 5219 cases stands achieved.
She added that under the State Marriage Assistance Scheme one one-time financial assistance to 1204 cases was sanctioned in FY 2022-23, 1870 in FY 2023-24 and during 2024, 752 cases have been sanctioned so far.
During the review meeting, the DC instructed the DSWO and the Tehsil Social Welfare Officers (TSWOs) to ensure the expeditious clearance of pending cases. He reviewed the functioning of the One Stop Centre and ICPS in the district. The meeting was attended by ADC Viqar Ahmed Giri, JDP Zahid Sajjad, DSWO, Snobar Altaf, TSWOs and other officers.
