Jammu, Aug 08: District Employment and Counselling Centre Jammu on Tuesday inaugurated a three-month skill development training course on ‘Accounts Executive & Mechanic Computer Hardware’ as part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations.
The course is an initiative of the Department of Employment, J&K to upskill and enhance the employability of youth by imparting them relevant and in-demand skill training. The inaugural session was inaugurated by Joint Director Employment Jammu, Dr Khalid Hussain Malik in the presence of Deputy Director Employment Jammu Rakesh Sharma.
The curriculum of the skill training course has been meticulously devised keeping in view the evolving industry demand, with a keen focus on practical learning. Under the programme, the participating candidates are being provided free of cost skill training along with a monthly stipend of Rs 1000. Moreover, a robust monitoring mechanism has been put in place by the department to ensure the skill training being imparted under the programme is up to mark.
On the occasion, Joint Director Employment, J&K Jammu highlighted the importance of such initiatives to bridge the skill gap and talked about the role the Employment Department is playing in guiding and empowering the youth in securing sustainable employment.
The department is actively reaching out to the unemployed youth and is guiding and hand-holding them on their path towards securing a sustainable livelihood by organizing Job Fairs, Career Counselling Sessions, Awareness Camps, implementing Self-Employment Schemes and more recently Skill Training Programs. Moreover, the department has come up with an Employment Portal (https://jakemp.nic.in) which provides a common platform to job seekers and job providers to bridge the gap between the two. Job seekers can register on the portal and search for the jobs posted by job providers. The portal has recently been integrated with National Career Service Portal at the Central Level.
An interaction session with participating candidates also formed part of the event wherein Career Counselling Officer DE&CC Jammu, Mamta Sharma interacted with the candidates and guided them regarding the Modus Operandi of the training course. The students enthusiastically participated in the event and appreciated the efforts of the department in reaching out to them and organizing the training program.
