Srinagar, Mar 11: The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Tuesday announced the completion of eight parks in various Panchayat Halqas within the Beerwah Assembly Constituency, with a total expenditure of Rs. 18.89 lacs.
These parks have been entrusted to the local community, which is responsible for their upkeep, ensuring they remain clean and well-maintained on a daily basis.
In response to a query from MLA Dr. Shafi Ahmad Wani during the Assembly session, the Minister in charge of the Department of Rural Development & PR confirmed the establishment of these eight parks, emphasizing the community’s role in their maintenance.
The specifics of the projects are as follows: Development of a public park near the land of Mohd Yousf Sheikh at Bonit, development of a park near Astan Sharief Syed Allaudin Bukhari (RA) in Iskanderpora, development of a park near Astan Sharief Syed Allahu Din Bukhari at Iskanderpora, construction of fencing for a public park near Jamia Masjid (Ward 7) at Gooripora, beautification of a public park at Aripanthan-A, construction of a public park at Kuklham, construction of a public park at Ramhama, and construction of a public park at Hukhletri.
The Minister further noted that over the past two years, earth filling, fencing, and a retaining wall have been constructed around the Lone Mohalla Park in Mazhama, at a cost of Rs. 1.94 lacs. Additionally, the earth filling for this park is included in the Annual Action Plan (AAP) for 2025-26 under MGNREGA and has been approved for implementation in the next fiscal year.
The Minister also reported that a total of Rs. 17.456 lacs has been allocated for the improvement and beautification of parks in the Beerwah Constituency.
