Srinagar, Feb 13: Chairperson of the J&K Waqf Board, Dr. Darakshan Andrabi, on Thursday stated that the construction work on the Eidgah in Srinagar is progressing steadily and is expected to be completed before Eid.
Speaking to reporters at Eidgah Srinagar, Dr. Andrabi said she visited the site to assess the progress of the construction work on the mega pulpit. She emphasized that the Waqf Board is making all efforts to complete the project on time.
“The Eidgah pulpit is the longest pulpit, and I have personally monitored its construction along with the J&K Waqf Board Engineering Wing to ensure quality and timely completion,” she said.
Dr. Andrabi further mentioned that construction and renovation work is also underway at various shrines, including Dargah Hazratbal and Dastageer Sahib. Additionally, she assured that preparations for Shab-e-Baraat have been completed.
When asked about the Waqf Amendment Bill, she stated that discussions would take place once the bill is tabled, and only after reviewing the proposed amendments can further comments be made.
The J&K Waqf Board has been actively involved in developmental projects across religious sites in the region, ensuring improved facilities for devotees, she added.
