Ganderbal, Apr 09: In the run up to the 135th birth anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, offices of OBC Cell, SC, ST PWD Cell, Department of Students welfare (DSW) and the NSS Unit of the Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir) jointly organised five-events.
In his message, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. A. Ravinder Nath said, “Through these events—be it the screening of Babasaheb’s biopic, spirited student debates, or symbolic Padyatras—we not only honour Dr. Ambedkar’s legacy, but also spark essential conversations around equity, dignity, and justice. Education must remain a tool to dismantle barriers and build a more inclusive society.” He lauded the collective efforts of faculty and students in translating Dr. Ambedkar’s vision into actionable change.
Dean, Academic Affairs, Prof. Shahid Rasool, noted that these events could highlight Dr. B R Ambedkar’s enduring impact on social justice and inclusivity, fostering dialogue and action amongst students and faculty.
Dr. John K. Babu, OBC Cell Liaison Officer remarked “the enthusiastic participation of CU Kashmir’s diverse student community underscores the relevance of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar’s ideas today. He said the varsity is organising an online webinar on “Dr. B. R. Ambedkar’s ideology on inclusive society for national development” on 14th of April.
The organising team included DSW Director, Dr. Irfan Alam, and SC ST PWD Liaison Officer Dr. Altaf Hussain. Faculty members Dr. Nookaraju, Dr. Hima Bindu, Dr. Ahmad Mohmad Raza, Dr. Harpal Singh, Dr. Irfan Noorani, Dr. Shahnaz Aktar, Dr. Bandu Matyal, Dr. Dinesh, Dr. Imtiaz, Dr. Muzamil, Dr. Mukharam and Dr. Guru Raju also participated in the events.
