Rajouri, July 04: Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) on Tuesday held protest demonstrations here against the curtailment of ration, price hikes, property tax, and shortage of water and electricity.
The protest was led by General Secretary R S Chib who along with DPAP workers expressed concern over the curtailment of ration, rise in prices of essential commodities, rising unemployment and issues of electricity and potable water saying the “anti-people” measures have taken a toll on every aspect of life in Jammu Kashmir, the party statement issued here said.
“The authorities have cut down the monthly ration quota to consumers in J&K, supply of kerosene oil to consumers has disappeared, price hike and unemployment is breaking all records,” he said. The protestors demanded the restoration of the monthly ration quota to consumers and the rollback of the imposition of property tax and other “anti-people” decisions.
After the protest rally, the DPAP leaders presented the memorandum of demands to Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Vikas Kundal. The memorandum contained all the demands for which DPAP has been holding peaceful protest rallies for the past several months.
“On the instructions of its Chairman Ghulam Nabi Azad, DPAP has held several rallies, protests and public outreach programmes in the past weeks. Public outreach programmes, as per DPAP, are aimed at having first-hand accounts of public issues,” the party said.
