Srinagar, Aug 21: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Srinagar Thursday conducted a consultative exercise of Panel Lawyers in ADR, DLSA Srinagar, with a special focus on child-related matters.As per a statement issued here, the meeting deliberated upon issues pertaining to custody cases and other child welfare concerns that frequently arise before the courts. The exercise was held under the chairmanship of Tasleem Arief, Principal District and Sessions Judge, Srinagar.During the deliberations, participants engaged in a constructive exchange of ideas, highlighting the challenges encountered by legal aid lawyers while dealing with custody and child-related disputes. The meeting also provided a platform to share good practices adopted in various cases, with a view to strengthening the system of legal aid delivery in sensitive family matters. Secretary, DLSA Srinagar, emphasized the importance of adopting a child-centric approach while handling custody disputes, ensuring that the best interests of the child remain paramount. He also encouraged Panel Lawyers to adopt a child friendly approach in custody matters. The consultative exercise concluded with valuable suggestions and recommendations aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of legal aid services, reinforcing the commitment of DLSA Srinagar to safeguard the rights of children and to provide meaningful assistance in custody-related matters.
