District Samba Softball Championship kicks off with enthusiasm

Samba, July 6, 2023: The District Samba Softball Championship was officially inaugurated by Mrs. Veena Jamwal, the esteemed Sarpanch of Birpur. Organized by the District Samba Softball Association under the patronage of the J&K Softball Association, the championship commenced at Government Higher Secondary School Birpur. 
The opening ceremony was graced by several dignitaries, including Munishwar Singh Jamwal, Former Assistant Commandant of SSB, Suraj Verma, Lecturer, Sumitri Devi, Panch Ward 5 of Village Birpur, Vinay Kumar, Panch Kundanpur of Upper Birpur, Samba, and Harkesh K Jasrotia, Pawan Kumar & Harvingh Singh, who were present as special guests.
Veena Jamwal, Sarpanch of Birpur, served as the Chief Guest for the inaugural day of the championship. In her address, she emphasized the significance of organizing sports competitions for the holistic development of youth, as they contribute to the betterment of District Samba. Furthermore, she highlighted how the involvement of young athletes in sports can help combat the alarming spread of drug abuse.
The Chief Guest applauded the efforts of the organizers and the J&K Softball Association for their frequent organization of such events. She assured her unwavering support and pledged to contribute to the success of such joint ventures as the Sarpanch of Village Birpur. The championship, spanning two days, features a total of 10 teams, including four girls’ teams and eight boys’ teams. Teams from Samba, Birpur, and the border areas of Ramgarh are competing for the coveted championship title.
This championship, a collaboration between the J&K Sports Council and sponsored under the MY YOUTH MY PRIDE INITIATIVE, aims to nurture sporting talent and create a platform for young athletes to showcase their skills.
Today’s Results:
Boys: Dragon Fire Club defeated Young Bulls with a score of 10-2. Heavy Hitters Club secured a victory against GCC Gurha Slathia with a resounding score of 10-0. Dev Softball Club triumphed over Friends Club with a score of 10-4.
Girls: GCC Softball Club emerged victorious over Birpur Club with a score of 3-1.
The remaining matches are scheduled to take place on July 6, 2023, starting at 6 AM. The ongoing District Samba Softball Championship has been supported by dedicated technical officials, including umpires, scorers, and other technical personnel, such as Ajay Singh, Pradeep Singh, Atul Singh, Aman Singh, Dheeraj Singh Jamwal, and Sagar Chib.
