DC Srinagar chairs DLTFC meeting of Rural Employment Generation Programme

Srinagar Oct 10: A meeting of the District Level Task Force Committee (DLTFC) which met here on Tuesday under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad at Meeting Hall of DC Office Complex gave approval to clear 48 cases under Jammu & Kashmir Rural Employment Generation Programme (JKREGP) thereby providing loan amounting to several crores to eligible beneficiaries of the District for setting up income generating units. 
At the outset, the District Officer, KVIB Srinagar, submitted proposals before the District Level Task Force Committee for consideration of financial assistance from different Banks to unemployed youth of the Srinagar District for setting up of income generating units.
 The Committee under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner screened and scrutinised all the applications and all 48 beneficiaries were interviewed/interacted by the Committee and were selected for sponsorship under different Industries and sectors like Green House Vegetable growing, Multi Speciality Clinic, CSC center, Cutting Tailoring Boutique, Sheep farm, Cow farm, Dairy products, shuttering , etc.
 The units are expected to generate employment opportunities for over 100 unemployed youth in the District. 
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner stressed on the line Departments to bring more and more unemployed youth of Srinagar District under the ambit of Government schemes launched to generate maximum employment avenues. 
The DC also stressed on the Bankers to ensure speedy disposal of these cases so that the aspiring unemployed youths are in a position to establish their income generating units without any difficulties. 
The DC hoped that the units will go a long way in enhancing the socio-economic upliftment of the unemployed youth in Srinagar District. 
The DC also urged the unemployed youth to come forward and avail the benefits of flagship schemes and programmes to earn livelihood with dignity and honour. 
The JKREGP scheme is being implemented by Jammu & Kashmir Khadi and Village Industries Board (J&K KVIB) to harness the potential and enthusiasm of youth for establishment of productive enterprise in the Micro Industrial sector and to create employment opportunities. The scheme is also aimed to develop the entrepreneurial skills among the rural unemployed youth of the district through setting up of new self- employment ventures/projects/village industries enterprises.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Syed Hamad Kataria, District Officer, KVIB, Lead Bank Manager, Cluster Head JK Bank, Functional Manager DIC, Principal Government Polytechnic College Gogjibagh, Principal Government Polytechnic College Bemina, besides other concerned officers.
