DC Kulgam for stringent measures against illicit crop cultivation

Kulgam, May 09: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan on Thursday chaired a meeting of the District Level Committee under the Narco Coordination (NCORD) Centre to discuss various measures aimed at curbing the drug abuse and narcotic trade in the district and review the implementation of decisions and directions passed in the previous meeting.
During the meeting, a threadbare discussion was held on various issues pertaining to the incidence of drug addiction, areas of concern and hotspots of drug use besides action taken by the concerned departments with regard to curbing the menace of drugs.
The chair was informed that 11 Panchayats have been declared drug-free in the district. It was also shared that 16 Drug Peddlers were arrested and 15 FIRs were registered during the current month.
The DC instructed the concerned to convene meetings of Tehsil and Gram panchayat level committees regularly.
Moreover, stringent measures were directed towards ensuring zero cultivation of illicit crops in the district.
The Social Welfare Department was tasked with formulating a comprehensive plan for impactful awareness programs and imparting necessary training to Panchayat Level Committees already constituted and directed for devising a training schedule Tehsil Wise.
Assistant Drug Controller reported on the recent inspections of pharmacies, with 102 conducted during the current month.
The chair directed achieving a 100% target in the installation of CCTV cameras and CBS by the end of this month.
The Assistant Drug Controller was further instructed to intensify the inspections of Pharmacies and Cancel the licenses of those who are not adhering to guidelines.
