Reasi, Nov 16: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Reasi, Vishesh Mahajan on Saturday convened a significant meeting with adventure tour operators and officials from the Tourism Department to discuss the promotion of adventure tourism in the district.
The meeting focused on harnessing the potential of Baradari for rafting activities, along with strategies to position Reasi as a hub for spiritual tourism, camping, and weddings destinations in Katra.
Discussions revolved around promoting the district’s natural and cultural assets while ensuring safe and sustainable practices for adventure tourism.
The DC Reasi directed adventure tour operators to regulate rafting activities meticulously and adhere to all prescribed safety protocols to ensure a secure experience for tourists.
Emphasizing the importance of safety, he instructed stakeholders to collaborate with the Tourism Department to draft comprehensive Do’s and Don’ts for rafting activities. Furthermore, the identification and promotion of homestays at key tourist destinations, such as Ransoo and Ramkund, were highlighted as essential steps to enhance visitors’ experiences and boost local livelihoods.
The Deputy Commissioner also called for the integrated promotion of spiritual tourism and the development of camping sites across the district. Stressing the need for diversification, he encouraged efforts to position Katra as an emerging wedding destination, capitalizing on its serene and scenic environment.
The meeting concluded with a collective commitment from all stakeholders to work towards transforming Reasi into a preferred adventure and spiritual tourism destination while maintaining safety and sustainability at its core. ACR Anshumali Sharma , AD Tourism Katra Alka Mishra and other officials were present
