Baramulla, Aug 27: Darul Uloom Sheeri, an esteemed Islamic seminary, on Sunday held its 10th Dastaar Bandi ceremony during which turbans were bestowed upon 38 dedicated Hufaaz.
Hufaaz is the plural of Haafiz – a title given to a person who memorises the holy Qur’an by heart.
The event was graced by the presence of a highly-regarded spiritual and religious scholar, Ameer Tablighi Jamaat, Moulana Parvaiz Sahab. Thousands of devout followers from the valley converged to participate in this sacred gathering.
The proceedings were overseen by Mohtamim (Chief Administrator) Darul Uloom, Moulana Abdul Qayoom Qasmi, who underscored the institution’s rich legacy of nurturing a thousand Hufaaz, Ulama, and Qaris over the past three decades. He expressed his profound pride in the unwavering commitment to Islamic education demonstrated by the institution’s alumni.
Distinguished guest Moulana Ameer Sahab delivered a thought-provoking speech, focusing on the vital role that the madrasas play in preserving the Qur’an within the Muslim world. The event was meticulously organised under his expert guidance.
Addressing the assembled crowd, Moulana Ameer passionately stressed on the imperative unity among Muslims and offered prayers for harmony and tranquility across the world.
The congregation marked a momentous occasion, as it took place after a hiatus of four years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
