Ganderbal, Aug 27: School of Education (SoE), Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir), organised an Extension Lecture on ‘Plagiarism Issues and Research Ethics in the Contexts of Contemporary Times and Artificial Intelligence (AI)’ at Tulmulla campus here.The lecture was delivered by Dr Shiva Kanauija Sukula, Deputy Librarian, Dr B.R. Ambedkar Central Library, JNU, New Delhi. In her presentation, Dr Sukula deliberated upon issues arising because of plagiarism and copyright violations. She observed that plagiarism has grabbed the media headlines across the globe with reference to its growing incidence in various sectors like music, filmmaking, academia, research publication, etc. Dr Sukula discussed plagiarism in detail with special reference to its concept, history, types and legal penalties. She enlightened the participants about the ways to avoid the practice of plagiarism while reporting your research work, especially in the era of increasing use of AI tools like ChatGPT, Grammarly, etc. The presentation was followed by a question-and-answer session. The lecture was attended by faculty members, scholars and students.Earlier in his welcome address, Prof Syed Zahoor Ahmad Geelani, Dean & Head, SoE, highlighted the importance of research ethics and transparency in ensuring quality research work. The programme proceedings were conducted by Sr. Asst Prof Dr Firdous Ahmad Sofal, and vote of thanks was proposed by Asst Prof Dr Arun T. Christopher.
