CUK, SKUAST-K to hold joint innovation conference from Dec 20

Ganderbal, Dec 18: Central University of Kashmir (CUK) in collaboration with SK University of Agriculture Science and Technology (SKUAST-K) is organizing a two -day National Conference cum Workshop on “Innovations and Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Development” from December 20, 2022.
The main themes of the workshop are: Innovations and Entrepreneurship for Aatmanirbhar Bharat, Innovations and Entrepreneurship in Agriculture Sector, Innovations and Entrepreneurship in Translational Research, Innovations and Entrepreneurship in Environmental and Social issues, Innovations and Entrepreneurship in Medicine and Pharmaceutical Science, Innovations and Entrepreneurship in Renewable Energy, Innovations and Entrepreneurship in Engineering and computer sciences and Innovations and Entrepreneurship in Allied Sciences
Eminent scholars of different fields will be delivering talks during the technical sessions on the aforementioned themes apart from deliberations by young researchers and students to share their research/ innovations/success stories/contributions.
Commissioner/Secretary to Govt., Science & Technology Department, Mr. Saurabh Bhagat, CUK Vice Chancellor, Prof. Farooq Ahmad Shah, University of Kashmir, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Nilofar Khan, SKUAST-(K) Vice Chancellor, Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganaie, CUK Registrar and Convener IESD-2022, Prof. M Afzal Zargar, Deans of Schools of CUK, head and coordinators, faculty members, senior administrative officials, research scholars and students will be present on the occasion.
About the event, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Farooq Ahmad Shah, said, the theme of the Conference is most relevant in modern times of creativity and innovation aimed at long lasting development. He opined that the event shall offer ample opportunities for the young and budding innovators to rub shoulders with eminent and renowned scholars in the field to exchange ideas and develop expertise.
KU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Nilofar Khan said that Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) are the key drivers for economic growth and human development for any country. “For achieving an “Atmanirbhar Bharat”, promoting the traditional knowledge system, developing indigenous technologies and encouraging grass root innovation are the need of the hour.”
SKUAST-K, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganaie, said event aims at creating and fostering a platform for translational research where entrepreneurs, researchers, academicians, practitioners, industrialists, policymakers, and professionals around the country to come together and create a viable opportunity to have an in depth brainstorming cum discussions, experience and idea sharing.
About the IESD-2022, CUK Registrar and event Convener, Prof. M Afzal Zargar stated that the exponential increase in the scientific information and the rate at which new discoveries are made, has necessitated the consolidation of research and experimental methodologies including basic and advanced techniques. He stated that the demolition of barriers envisaged through NEP-2020 has now mandated interdisciplinary studies and hence this National Seminar cum Workshop is worth attending.
Dean, School of Life Sciences, Prof. M. Yousuf, said the era of innovations and entrepreneurship for sustainable development has dawned in India. “Promoting innovations and entrepreneurship would assure an unparalleled surge of progress, wealth, and wellness that may benefit both the spirit of creating a developed India and the interests of the rest of the globe.”
