Srinagar, Nov 29: The Postgraduate Department of Minimal Access Surgery at Government Medical College (GMC), Srinagar, successfully organized a Continuing Medical Education (CME) program titled “Upper GI Discourse”. The event brought together eminent luminaries from the fields of surgery and gastroenterology, creating an enriching academic environment.

The program witnessed the esteemed presence of renowned professionals, including Prof. M.S. Khuroo, Prof. Aijaz (Head of the Department of Surgery, SKIMS), and Prof. Aijaz (Head of the Department of Surgery, SKIMS Medical College, Srinagar). Faculty members from peripheral medical colleges across the region, spanning from North to South Kashmir, also actively participated in the event, further enhancing its academic value.

Prof. Iqbal Saleem, Head of the Department of Minimal Access Surgery, GMC Srinagar, and President of JAKASI (Jammu and Kashmir Association of Surgeons of India), highlighted the department’s significant contributions to surgical education and training. He emphasized the role of such programs in advancing the standards of care and fostering professional development among healthcare practitioners.

The event commenced with a warm welcome address by Prof. Abdur Rasheed, who extended his gratitude to the distinguished guests and participants. He also provided a comprehensive overview of the program’s objectives and agenda, underscoring its importance in advancing knowledge in Upper GI surgery.

The CME featured insightful sessions and interactive discussions, allowing participants to delve into the latest advancements and challenges in the field of Upper GI surgery and gastroenterology. The collaborative atmosphere fostered a meaningful exchange of ideas and experiences among the attendees.

The program concluded on a high note with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the efforts of the organizing committee and the contributions of all participants in making the event a resounding success.Dr. Tasneem Hamdani, Medical Superintendent of SMHS Hospital, was commended for her pivotal role in enhancing the hospital’s standards. Her visionary leadership and unwavering dedication have significantly contributed to improving the quality of healthcare services, making SMHS Hospital a benchmark for excellence in patient care.

Such initiatives underscore the commitment of GMC Srinagar’s Department of Minimal Access Surgery to promoting excellence in surgical education and creating platforms for collaborative learning and innovation.
