Jammu, Jan 26: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national general secretary Tarun Chugh on Sunday strongly condemned the incident of defacing the statue of Baba Saheb Ambedkar in Amritsar and demanded a thorough investigation into the incident.
Coming down heavily on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government for its “dismal failure” to control law and order in Punjab, Chugh said anti-social and anti-national forces are having a free play in Punjab.
“The collapse of law and order is an alarming indication of disruptive forces coming to the fore,” he said in a statement issued here.
The BJP leader said the shameful incident taking place on Republic Day assumes more seriousness. “That the miscreants also burnt the copy of the Constitution clearly established that anti-national forces are at work,” he said.
Chugh demanded that an SIT be formed to investigate the hooliganism.
