Pakistan has resorted to violation of ceasefire along the Line of Control(LOC) by opening fire as its army personnel intruded into India in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory(UT).As per the Indian Army’s official statement a mine blast occurred on Tuesday in Krishna Ghati due to Pakistani army intrusion across the LOC. It was followed by unprovoked firing by Pakistani troops. To this misadventure ,the Indian Army responded in a calibrated manner. It must be noted that this ceasefire violation has occurred in tandem with the infiltration of the armed terrorists in the Kathua region, where the operation is still on to nab the terrorists. Over the decades it has been a declared policy of the Pakistani Army and its ISI to indulge in giving cover to the infiltrating terrorists into the Indian territory when the snow starts melting with the commencement of summer. Indian Army has reiterated that it upholds the importance of Director Generals Military Operations(DGMOs) understanding of 2021 for maintaining the peace along the LOC. It is pertinent to mention that Pakistan has been trying to keep the LOC and the International Border(IB) volatile from the month of January with its belligerent activities. These hostile activities of Pakistan are meant to gain international attention to divert the focus from its domestic turbulence. Recently, Pakistan has witnessed a spate of rebellion by the Balochis under the banner of Baloch Liberation Army(BLA) that hijacked the Jaffar Express and brought to the fore the human rights violations being inflicted on the Balochis by Pakistani army. Balochistan has been fighting for the right to self-determination and wants to secede from Pakistan as its people and resources are being exploited and being leased out to China. Pakistan’s hostility is guided by its policy os state sponsored cross border terrorism against India. From quite some time it has been focussing in making the situation volatile in Jammu region. After igniting the tensions in Rajouri with the infiltration of its mercenaries and indulging the Indian Army in ambushes, It has been focussing on Kathua district and destabilising the area. Poonch is another addition in its nefarious designs. The Rising Kashmir has repeatedly underlined that from quite some time Pakistan is pursuing a policy of igniting the districts of Jammu region by shifting the theatre of war. Pakistan is using a two pronged strategy to destabilise the Jammu region. One, it is using the firing on the LOC to sneak the terrorists into Jammu and Kashmir. Two, it is creating launch pads within the Indian territory so that Indian security forces are engaged in ambushes and damage is inflicted. This is not only to be countered but completely decimated by using a comprehensive strategy so that the semblance of peace that is prevalent in Jammu and Kashmir is consolidated and development is not made hostage to Pakistan’s game plan of destabilisation. The Union Home Minister is scheduled to visit the UT shortly. It is hoped that he takes the holistic view of the emerging security situation both internally and externally. So that security grid is reinforced. Jammu and Kashmir cannot afford to lower the guard. The vulnerable areas of Jammu need to be fortified so that repeated Pakistani attacks in these areas are stopped. There is an urgent need to comb the border districts of Jammu region so that infiltrators are identified and eliminated.
