Anantnag, Aug 27: The two day long Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme (ICOP) organized by the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC) at Government Model Higher Secondary School, Doru Shahabad concluded on Wednesday.According to a statement issued here, the concluding day witnessed participation of the officials from Judiciary, Police and departments of Education and Urban Local Bodies . Experts deliberated upon themes like Mission LiFE, New Criminal Laws, Drug Abuse and Swachhata Hi Seva. Sub Divisional Police Office (SDPO), Doru Pankaj Sudhan presided over the final day’s proceedings as a chief guest. Speaking on the occasion Sudhan said that Drug and Substance abuse among youth is a major cause of concern which demands a collective and a coordinated response from all the stakeholders. He identified peer pressure and thrill seeking behaviour in adolescents as major factors triggering first time exposure to drugs and narcotic substances. He impressed upon parents and teachers to monitor activities of youths for early identification of sudden behavioural changes. He said vigilant parents and teachers have an important role in the fight against drug and substance abuse.He also gave a detailed presentation on New Criminal Laws highlighting the landmark changes the three new legislations have introduced in the criminal jurisprudence of the country.Senior Advocate and Rural Sanitation activist, Farooq Ahmad Ganaie also presented an overview of three New Criminal Laws and pointed out how the new laws are expected to make justice delivery fast and transparent.
