Srinagar, April 23: In a bid to foster a culture of reading and learning, Boys Higher Secondary School (BHSS) Tailbal in Srinagar organized a Book Donation Drive on the eve of World Book Day. The initiative, led by the central library of Srinagar Women’s College, BataporaZakura, aimed to enrich the educational resources available to students.
Professor Tehmina Yousuf, emphasizing the profound impact of books on individual development, encouraged students to embrace the habit of reading. She highlighted how books shape personalities and broaden horizons, urging young minds to immerse themselves in the world of literature.
The event witnessed active participation from both faculty and students of BHSS Tailbal, who passionately discussed the significance of World Book Day and the transformative power of literature. Ms. Duha, representing the librarian of SWC Zakura, revealed that a generous donation of 155 titles had been made by faculty, students, and staff of the college over the course of a month.
Addressing the audience, Principal Riyaz Ahmad Dar expressed gratitude to the Principal of SWC Zakura for spearheading the initiative. He underscored the practical utility of the donated books, affirming that they cater to both academic and leisure interests of the students.
The drive not only replenished the school’s library but also instilled a sense of enthusiasm for reading among students. By providing access to diverse literary works, the initiative seeks to empower the next generation with knowledge and inspiration.
