Block Diwas: DC Srinagar holds Public Grievance Redressal Camp at Astanmarg

Srinagar, Jan 04: Continuing the efforts of District Administration to reach out to the common masses living in remote and far-flung areas of the district to address their grievances, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad on Wednesday undertook an extensive tour of  Astanmarg in Harwan Block of Srinagar to assess the developmental requirements and address issues of public at their doorsteps.
 The Grievance Redressal Camp was attended by a large gathering of locals, besides representatives of Panchayat Raj Institutions viz. DDC and BDC member, Sarpanches and Panches of the area who projected their grievances and issues before the DC which include augmentation of water supply, development of Syedpora-Fakir Gujri road via Astanmarg, holding special camps for issuing disability Certificates, saturation under PMAY-G, providing Banking and ATM facilities and other issues.
 After giving patient hearing to the grievances and demands of the PRI members and other individuals, the DC sought on the spot response from the concerned District Officers present during the Grievance Redressal Camp. He assured the people of Astanmarg and other areas of Harwan Block that all genuine demands and issues projected by them will be looked into on priority.
 The DC also gave on the spot directions to the concerned Officers for time bound redressal of the public issues.
 Addressing the gathering, the DC said the District Administration is holding such grievance redressal Camps to take appraisal of local issues from the general public for precise and on-ground assessment to ensure their time bound redressal. He said such programmes also provide feedback to the Administration to frame developmental plans as per proposals of the local populations for the public good and reach to the doorstep of the people instead of them visiting the DC office or other Government Offices.
 With regard to development of roads to the upper reaches of Astanmarg, the DC assured that the demand of Syedpora-Fakir Gujri road via Astanmarg will be reflected in PMGSY-4 to further improve the living conditions of the local population. 
The DC also directed for conducting special assessment camps for disability certification in the area to facilitate the beneficiaries of Dara, Fakir Gujri, Mulnar, Syed pora  and other areas in Harwan Block.  
 He also said that measures are underway to bring the Astanmarg area on the tourism map of the district to further improve the socio-economic conditions of the local people.
 On the occasion, the DC mentioned that as many as 151 works were taken up in the area and payment to the tune of Rs 3 crore have been disbursed so far in Harwan Block.
 During the tour, the DC inspected the pace of various ongoing developmental works including construction of Health and Nutrition Centre at SaidporaBala being executed at a cost of Rs 16 lakh under Aspirational Block Development Programme.
 The DC instructed the concerned Officers to expedite the works within set timelines to ensure people are timely benefited.
He DC also took stock of the Syedpora-Fakir Gujri road via Astanmarg and asked the concerned to prepare the DPR for the same so that work for the road is taken up under PMGSY.
 Chief Planning Officer Srinagar, Mohammad Yassen Lone; Assistant Commissioner Development, Syed Farooq; Chief Agriculture Officer, Mohammad Younis; Chief Horticulture Officer, V K Gupta; BMO Hazratbal, Dr Farah; Executive Engineer PDD, Javid Ahmad; Tehsildar North, Kaiser Mehmood; BDO Harwan, Majid Iqbal, besides Officers of PHE, RDD, Social Welfare and R&B and other concerned Departments were present in the Public Grievances Redressal Camp.
