Jammu, Aug 20: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) J&K-UT’s State Organization Building Committee & Manifesto Drafting Committee Member Kuldeep Kumar Rao on Sunday said the Centre promulgated an ordinance to nullify the Supreme Court’s order that had given Delhi AAP government control over officers dealing with subjects other than public order, police and land and assigned the superintending jurisdiction over the entire officer cadre in the National Capital Territory to the Lieutenant Governor.
“The Centre’s sole motive to bring this ordinance and the bill on services matter is to snatch powers from the Kejriwal government and the Modi government had made it clear that it did not care for the people’s mandate or for the directive of the apex court and it will bypass the elected government of Delhi,” Rao said in a statement issued here.
He expressed disappointment over the passage of the Delhi Services Bill in both Houses and loudly condemned this “cowardly act” of the Centre. “It is a blot on the federal values of the Constitution and a warning to the people of Delhi that even if the BJP receives an electoral drubbing at their hands, they would still rule through the backdoor. BJP is now fully exposed and will lose all seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi in 2024 Lok Sabha elections, like that of 2015 and 2020 assembly elections,” he said.
The AAP leader said the verdict of the Apex Court was a big gift for the residents of Delhi and a “big blow” to the Central government which has “misused” its powers by interfering in the democratically-elected government of Delhi and other states where BJP is not in power. “This is the frustration of the BJP due to its anti-people and policy of vendetta for the opposition parties,” he said.
Kuldeep further said that the people across the nation “know very well that the BJP government at the Centre has proved to be an utter failure on all fronts and they will never forgive them for bringing anti-people policies”.
“The reality is that instead of bringing the Achhe Din promised by the BJP, it has brought only miseries to the common people,” he said. “The Modi government failed to create 2 crore jobs per year in nine years despite making tall Jumlas about the same. The nation and its people want to know when the promised Achhe Din will come.”
