Srinagar, July 07: The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Jammu and Kashmir Branch Office, organized an educational visit for the students of Government Higher Secondary School Mujgund, Srinagar, to the Kashmir Hallmarking Centre located at Hari Singh High Street, Lal Chowk, Srinagar.

Under the able guidance of Imran Maqsood, mentor of BIS Standard Club Govt Higher Secondary School Mujgund 28 students participated in the said event. During the visit, the students were given an opportunity to observe and understand the quality check processes for gold.
Ashish Dwivedi, Standard Promotion Officer, BIS-JKBO, warmly welcomed the students and introduced them to the technical experts at the centre. The experts provided a comprehensive overview of the techniques used to verify the purity of gold, including assaying and the significance of the six-digit HUID on gold jewellery. They also explained how the BIS Care App can be used as a tool to check the purity of gold and the importance of obtaining a GST bill for gold purchases.

The students actively engaged with the experts, asking numerous questions and documenting their experiences. Feedback from the students highlighted the importance of BIS in everyday life and the need to spread awareness about its standards and practices across various sectors of society.
