Jammu, Apr 09: The government of Jammu and Kashmir informed the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday that district Bandipora is a major contributor as far as hydel power generation is concerned.
In response to a question raised by MLA Nizam -u-Din Bhat, the government informed the house that 340 MW Power Project in Bandipora is one of the major contributors in power generation which accounts for 9.6% of the total harnessed potential of 3540.15 MW.
The government further stated that 33/11 KV , 6.3 MVA Sub-Station Arin Bandipora was covered under Prime Minister’s Development Plan (PMDP) – Rural in District Bandipora. However the receiving station could not be constructed due to delay in allotment of land/ contractual issues.
Government stated that the project of Arin could not be realised within the closure timelines of the PMDP scheme which now stands closed.
However to provide relief to the inhabitants of the area from frequent power cuts alternatively, a separate feeder from 33/11 KV Receiving station Nadihal was constructed to provide relief to the inhabitants of the area from frequent power cuts.
