Baghi Mehtab Prostitution Case: House Owner booked under ITPA act, house sealed

Srinagar, April 4: A Day after Srinagar police busted prostitution racket in BaghiMehtab area of Srinagar. Police on Tuesday said that the house owner where Prostitution Racket was busted has been booked under the Immoral Trafficking Prevention Act.
“Owner of the house used for immoral activities namely: Altaf Hussain Afaki S/o Asadullah Afaki R/o chanapora arrested under section 3 of Immoral trafficking prevention act 1956(ITPA). Proceedings started for formal attachment/sealing of house as per section 18 of ITPA,” police said in a tweet.
It to mention here that police on Monday busted a prostitution racket in a rented accommodation at Bagh-e-Mehtab and detained eight persons which include four sex workers.
Police earlier said that two persons running this racket arrested, namely, Irshad Ahmad Bhat of Pampore and Mohd Shafi Hajam of Karimabad Pulwama. Four female sex workers (all locals of Srinagar) and 2 customers detained. FIR registered at Chanpora PS.
 
 
DM Sgr appoints Special Police Officer for dealing with offences under immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act,1956
In wake of busting of a prostitution racket yesterday in Bagh-e-Mehtab locality of the District, the District Magistrate Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad on Tuesday issued an order for appointment of Special Police Officer for dealing with offence under immoral Traffic Prevention Act 1956 within the territorial jurisdiction of the District.
The order reads that “Whereas, Senior Superintendent of Police, Srinagar vide his letter No.
CRB/RDR/11595 dated: 03-4-2023 has requested for appointment of a Special Police Officer not below the rank of an Inspector of Police for dealing with offences under Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956″.
And accordingly, the DM appointed Inspector Gulshan Akhtar(No. 4463/NGO) of DPL Srinagar as Special Police Officer under section 13(2) of immoral Traffic Prevention Act 1956 for dealing with offences within the territorial jurisdiction of District. The officer is now empowered under the Act to investigate and carry criminal proceedings in all such matters.
