Srinagar, June 17: Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) chairman Ghulam Nabi Azad has constituted a committee to assess the damage due to the recent earth quake in Chenab valley, the party said on Saturday.
“The committee, headed by Vice Chairman G M Saroori, is directed to submit the details of the damage incurred in the Chenab valley due to the recent earth quake. All people shall be covered who suffered any kind of loss in the natural calamity,” Azad said in a statement.
The committee is directed to submit the report within seven days after which the party chairman will take up the matter with the government, the DPAP said.
Meanwhile, Azad has urged the district office bearers to strengthen the party cadre and reach out to the people at their doorsteps and raise their genuine grievances.
“The time has come when you have to walk foot to the remotest part of the Union Territory and interact with our people who are fed up with the present political system,” he told the office bearers in Anantnag while chairing a meeting to review the ongoing party activities in the south Kashmir district.
“It is the responsibility of every worker and office bearer of DPAP to make common people understand of our agenda and convince them to be part of change for the future and betterment of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
The DPAP chief said his party is “pro-poor and pro-people” and will fight for all those who face the onslaught on their basic rights. “DPAP is the guardian of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and their political and economic rights. Our fight is long and decisive and it needs motivation and ideological endorsement from the people,” he said.
Azad promised that if his party comes to power after elections in Jammu and Kashmir, he will restart his developmental model in triple shifts. “If we are back in power, I will get an opportunity to execute my ideas of uplifting Jammu and Kashmir as an international destination,” he said.
