Srinagar, Oct 06: In order sensitise the participants about significance of Voter ID and Aadhar linkage, an initiative of Election Commission of India (ECI) under ongoing Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls-2022, an awareness programme was organized today by the District Election Authority Srinagar, here at District Police Lines Srinagar (DPL) here on Thursday.
The Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad, who is also the District Election Officer (DEO), was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
While, Deputy District Election Officer(DDEO), Srinagar, Shakeel Ahmad, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Satish Kumar, senior officers from District Election Authority and a large number of Police personnel were present on the occasion.
The DEO urged the participants to take benefit from Special Summary Revision(SSR-2022) that started on September 15 and will continue till October 25, 2022 to get registered as a new voter, making corrections in already existing Voter ID.
The DEO lauded the participating Police personnel for attending the special awareness programme despite their routine duties. He also appreciated the efforts of the District Election Authority for organising the programme at DPL.
The DEO further said that ECI has provided an opportunity to Police personnel to become part of electoral process so they should participate in ongoing SVEEP campaign actively for strengthening of democratic setup.
Further, the DEO said that Special Summary Revision with different qualifying dates would ensure higher enrolment of eligible voters.
Earlier, the Officers of the District Election Authority apprised the   participants about measures available for linking of EPIC and Aadhar by visiting voter helpline app or nvsp portal and by contacting respective local BLOs to register their claims.
The participants were informed that voter ID and Aadhar linkage would eradicate duplicacy and bogus voting thereby engendering more transparency in the voting process. Besides, they were educated about the importance of Voter ID in different aspects.
