Ganderbal, Nov 07: In line with the ongoing Legal Services Week, the Tehsil Legal Services Committee Kangan organized an “Awareness Camp on Rights, Entitlements, and Remedies of Individuals and Schemes available in the Social Welfare Department” at the Conference Hall in the Panchayat Building Haknar Gund on Tuesday.
The event, directed by Mrs. Nusrat Ali Hakak, Secretary of the District Legal Service Authority Ganderbal and guided by Mr. Easar-Ul-Nabi, Chairman of the Tehsil Legal Services Committee Kangan, was attended by various dignitaries and members of the public. Chief Guest Mr. Eassar Ul Nabi, SHO Police Station Gund Mudasir Ahmad, BDC Chairman Gund Mohd Rafiq, Advocate Sajad Ahmad Khan, officials and PLVs from Tehsil Legal Services Committee Kangan, officials from the Social Welfare Department, District President of the Human Rights and Anti-Corruption Forum Mr. Farooq Ahmad Khatana, and the general public were present.
During the event, officials from the Social Welfare Department, including Manzoor Ahmad, Ruqaya Bano, and Mushtaq Ahmad, delivered speeches on the benefits of various social welfare schemes available to the general public. Advocate Sajad Ahmad Khan, serving as the Resource Person, emphasized the government’s initiatives to support underprivileged sections of society, such as the Old Age Pension Scheme, Widow Pension Scheme, schemes for disabled persons, National Family Benefit Scheme, Marriage Assistance Scheme, and Scholarships schemes. He also elaborated on the eligibility criteria for availing the benefits of these schemes.
The general public actively engaged in the discussion, raising queries and grievances related to the mentioned schemes. Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Committee Kangan intervened to address several grievances on the spot, while others were documented and will be forwarded to the respective departments for resolution.
The efforts of the Legal Services Authority were highly praised by the general public, who urged authorities to organize more such awareness programs to inform people about the different schemes intended for the general public. This initiative reflects a commitment to improving access to legal services and ensuring that individuals are aware of their rights and entitlements.
