Srinagar, July 16: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha dedicated the 28th edition of the popular ‘Awaam Ki Awaaz’ programme to the local people and stakeholders involved in the holy Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.
Expressing his gratitude, the Lieutenant Governor acknowledged the selfless efforts of those working with determination and commitment to ensure a pleasant pilgrimage experience for the devotees.
Lt Governor Sinha emphasized that the spiritual journey of Shri Amarnath Ji symbolizes a tradition of kindness and compassion for all. He stated that this sacred Yatra inspires the creation of a bright future for Jammu and Kashmir, rooted in human dignity, social equality, and justice.
Highlighting significant decisions taken by the UT Administration, Lt Governor Sinha emphasized that the administration’s top priority is to cater to the needs of the poor, underprivileged, and marginalized communities. He assured that every possible effort is being made to fulfill their basic requirements and improve their quality of life.
“The J&K Administration is committed to working for the welfare of the poor and vulnerable sections of society. The ambitious schemes to provide land and houses to the landless and underprivileged under the PMAY (Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana) will enhance their quality of life and empower the marginalized,” the Lt Governor affirmed.
Furthermore, Lt Governor Sinha highlighted the importance of food security as a fundamental civilizational value. He praised the Prime Minister’s Food Supplementation for Priority Households Scheme, which aims to benefit a large section of society and ensure their well-being.
Expressing concern about certain elements misleading the public and working against the interests of the poor, Lt Governor Sinha called upon all sections of society to remain vigilant. He urged people not to be hostage to the past and instead join the transformative journey of the present to build a prosperous future for Jammu and Kashmir. Emphasizing the crucial role of youth in this endeavor, he emphasized that all government bodies must work as a team to provide essential support to the younger generation.
During this month’s episode of ‘Awaam Ki Awaaz,’ Lt Governor Sinha shared inspirational success stories of innovative and entrepreneurial youth from Jammu and Kashmir. He specifically mentioned the achievements of Shakir Ahmad, Adnan Mushtaq, and Furqan Rashid, students of GHSS, Kreeri, Baramulla, who developed an Apple Grader, inspiring others to pursue their dreams.
Lt Governor Sinha commended the fearless spirit of J&K’s youth, who are charting their own paths to success and entrepreneurship despite fear and uncertainty. He highlighted the accomplishments of Safina Mushtaq from Baramulla, who became an agri-entrepreneur after her studies, and Sandur Kumar from Reasi, who developed a sustainable business model combining mushroom cultivation, beekeeping, and dairy.
The Lt Governor also mentioned Peerzada Muqeem, a post-graduate in Diplomacy Law and Business, who tapped into the vast potential of dairy farming and scripted his own success story with a milk processing plant and future plans.
Moreover, Lt Governor Sinha shared the valuable suggestions received from various individuals, including Shruti Arora, GR Ahangar, Rajendra Prasad, Sumit Puri, Rajeshwar Singh, Muneeb Mushtaq, Loviesh Kumar, Mudasir Ahmad Mir, Veena Jamwal, and Preeti Sharma. These suggestions covered diverse topics such as the promotion of voice artists and ghazalists, public participation in urban governance, Inclusive SMART City initiatives, community participation, strengthening the role of Panchayati Raj Institutions in SMART villages, and promotion of textile art in Jammu and Kashmir.
Lt Governor Sinha acknowledged the active participation of over 41,000 citizens on the MYGOVJK platform, voicing their opinions on various topics. He expressed satisfaction with the enthusiastic response on these idea-feedback platforms, which strengthens public participation in the policy-making process.
Later, the Lt Governor extended his congratulations to Shri Dheeraj Bismil and Smt Nighat Nasreen for winning the Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar 2023 in recognition of their significant contributions to Dogri and Kashmiri languages. He also congratulated Shri Balwan Singh Jamoria on winning the Bal Sahitya Puraskar.
