Baramulla, Mar 06: The Indian Army is set to launch a community radio station (CRS) in the Kanth Bagh area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district to nurture local talent and empower the community.
Named ‘Radio Baramulla’ with the tagline “Alfaaz Hamare Ehsaas Appke”, the station will operate at the frequency of 89.6 FM. It is poised to provide coverage to various areas in the district, including Boniyar, Gantmulla, Nowshera, Sheeri, Main Town, Khawaja Bagh, Sopore, Sangrama and other adjacent areas.
Equipped with a full-fledged studio, recording room, lounge, and server room, the station will serve as a platform for the local community. Six individuals from the local community, including the Station Head, three radio jockeys, a content creator, and a caretaker, will manage its operations.
While the station is set to be inaugurated soon, its social media handles on platforms like Facebook, Instagram and YouTube are already active, to reach a wider audience.
Speaking with Rising Kashmir, Station Head RJ Sajid Khan said, “Our primary goal will be to inform, educate, and entertain the general public. We will broadcast programs covering various topics, including development, women empowerment, farming, and government schemes.”
He expressed gratitude towards the Indian Army for providing him with the platform and opportunity to fulfill his childhood dream of becoming a radio jockey.
“The army should take more such initiatives for the skilled youth. I am grateful to them for this initiative. Soon, Baramulla will be able to hear me on 89.6 FM,” RJ Sajid said.
