Apni Party committed to women empowerment: Manjit Singh

Jammu, Feb 04: Apni Party Provincial President, Jammu, and Former Minister, S. Manjit Singh today said that the Apni Party is committed to politically empower women in Jammu and Kashmir.
While speaking at an active worker’s meeting in ward number 47 at Kassim Nagar in Bahu constituency, the Former Minister, S. Manjit Singh appreciated the participation of women in political activities and awareness among them about their rights.
“The awareness among the women about their political rights is important because it would empower them as well as the society,” he said, while addressing the worker’s meeting which was organized by Sheetal Sharma, provincial secretary of women wing, and ward number 47’s president.
He said that women have an important role in a society that would upgrade their living standard.
He said that the participation of women in political activities provides them the opportunity to elect their representative so that they can address their problems.
Meanwhile, he welcomed dozens of women led by Congress Party leader Darshana Devi with her supporters to join the Apni Party.
While welcoming the new entrants into the Party fold, Manjit Singh expressed hope that the joining of women will strengthen its root in Bahu constituency.
He said that the Apni Party has emerged as a hope for the people due to which different sections of society are joining the Party.
“We have made commitment with the people to bring positive changes in Jammu and Kashmir and accordingly, the welfare schemes for the women including enhancement of widow pension scheme up to Rs 5000, four free cooking gas cylinders to each economically poor family under Ujjwala scheme, enhancement of marriage assessment up to Rs 1 lakhs for the girls of poor families, 500 units of free electricity during summer and 300 units of electricity during winter season,” he added.
Prominent among those who were present occasion include Neelam Gupta, Vice President, Women Wing, Shikha Bhardwaj, Provincial Secretary Women Wing, Shivani Koul, Provincial Secretary, women wing, Adv Kuldeep Sudan, Legal Cell, Provincial General Secretary, Vaibhav Mattoo, Senior District Vice President of Jammu Urban, Vishal Jotshi, Press Secretary, District Jammu, Shubam Choudhary, district president youth, Dalbir Singh, District President, Minority Cell, Ravinder Kour, activist of ward number 43 president, Surinder Singh of ward number 48 president, Vicky Sudan, and others.
