Ananya Sharma of GDC Neeli Nallah wins gold medal in boxing championship

Udhampur, Nov 24: Ananya Sharma, student of B.A Sem 1st, of Government Degree College Neeli Nallah won gold medal in Boxing Championship 2024 held at Jammu University, Sports Stadium.
This Inter-Collegiate Tournament was organised by Directorate of Sports and Physical Education Jammu. The Championship was co-ordinated by the Boxing Association J&K under the banner of J&K Sports Council.
The organizer of the event was Harvinder Singh. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from teams representing Jammu divisions, showcasing the sportsmanship and talent of young athletes from across the different colleges of Jammu division.
Around 200 students from different colleges and schools participated in the championship. Ananya Sharma won the gold medal by defeating three players in the below 50 kg weight category in Women category. She displayed exceptional skills, determination and sportsmanship throughout the competition.
The final match was particularly thrilling, demonstrating a combination of technical expertise and unwavering grit to secure a knockout final victory of Ananya against Neema Devi (GDC Basohli). Ananya.
Principal of the college Dr. (Prof.) Seema Arora congratulated Ananya Sharma on her achievements and dedication, thereby, reflecting hardwork and discipline which she has put into training and this has brought ultimate laurels to our college in the field of sports. She underscored the significance of sports in the holistic development of young minds. She emphasized that, “sports not only enhance physical fitness but also contribute to mental well-being. Furthermore, sports play a crucial role in imparting essential life skills, such as teamwork, discipline, resilience, and leadership and we look forward to seeing more such achievements in the future.”
Sports Convenor, Prof. Shaista Yasmeen, thanked the Principal of the college for constant support and encouragement, and she also congratulated PTI Of the college Dr. Muntazir for his dedication to prepare students for the competition.
