JAMMU, AUG25:In response to a high alert issued by the Meteorological Department, all hospitals across the Jammu region have been placed on high alert to deal with potential emergencies arising from heavy rainfall, flash floods, landslides, or cloudbursts.
The weather department has warned of moderate to heavy rainfall across the region on Tuesday, accompanied by the risk of flash floods, landslides, and cloudburst events.
As a precautionary measure, the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H), Jammu, the region’s premier healthcare institution, along with all associated hospitals, has been directed by the administration to remain fully prepared for any eventuality.
“We are fully prepared, and GMC along with all its associated hospitals has been directed to be on high alert,” said Dr.Ashutosh Gupta, Principal, GMC Jammu, while speaking to Rising Kashmir.
He added that emergency services are being concentrated at GMC Jammu, where all senior and specialist doctors, including from Orthopaedics, Neurology, ENT, Chest Medicine, Nephrology, Cardiology and other key departments, have been instructed to remain ready and available.
“All senior doctors and technicians have been directed to remain on standby at GMC-Jammu in case the situation demands immediate response,” Dr. Gupta said.
Additionally, all paramedical staff, technicians, and nursing personnel in government hospitals across Jammu have been directed to report for duty without fail during the alert period.
Meanwhile, as a preventive step, the government has also ordered the closure of all schools in the ten districts of the Jammu region for Tuesday, following the weather department’s high-risk advisory.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely, and residents have been advised to avoid travel to vulnerable areas and stay updated through official weather bulletins.
