Jammu, July 30: Ajaz Ahmed Choudhary from Kallar Mohra, Mendhar, has been reappointed as National Secretary of the Indian Youth Congress (IYC), according to an official communication issued by the party on Tuesday.
The reappointment was approved by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge following the recommendation of Krishna Allavaru, AICC In-Charge of Youth Congress, and Uday Chib, President of the Indian Youth Congress, according to a statement issued here.
Choudhary has previously held several key positions within the party, including Vice President of the J&K Youth Congress, State Secretary of Pradesh Youth Congress, Lok Sabha General Secretary, and was the first elected President of Assembly Youth Congress (AYC) Mendhar. His political career began as NSUI College President.
At the national level, Choudhary has been involved in organisational work and election campaigns in Delhi, Bihar, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh. He has also served in various organisational roles within the NSUI, including PRO and DRO in Punjab, Karnataka, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Assam.
Hailing from the Gujjar and Bakarwal tribal community of the Pir Panjal region, Choudhary’s political background includes family ties to local governance. His father, Haji Mohammad Sharief, was a former Sarpanch and Block Congress Committee (BCC) President in Balakote.
In a brief statement following his reappointment, Choudhary thanked the Congress leadership for their support.
