Says science, values must go hand in hand for a sustainable future
NEP preparing students for future challenges

Srinagar, Dec 08: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday said that Artificial Intelligence is a tool to enhance not replace human educators.
Addressing a gathering at 18th Annual function of Mahavir International School, Sinha said that advancements in technology, particularly artificial intelligence (AI), should support educators rather than replace them.
“While AI can deliver precise data, it cannot understand students’ emotions or preferences. The future lies in AI-supported classrooms, where technology enhances human interaction and productivity,” he added.
Sinha said that the importance of teachers cannot be overstated, even in the era of AI. “Artificial intelligence cannot replace the emotional and intuitive understanding of a teacher. It is a tool to enhance, not replace, human educators.”
Sinha said that the lessons of Lord Mahavir, especially “Pratham Nan To Daya,” emphasize that compassion stems from inner knowledge. “Without self-awareness, compassion cannot flourish. Education should guide students towards self-realization, opening doors to infinite possibilities,” he added.
He said that the current education system must evolve beyond its reliance on tests and assessments. “The relationship between teachers and students should prioritize independence, curiosity, and creativity over rote learning. This bond, as highlighted in the Sarvasara Upanishad, is the foundation of true education,” Sinha said.
He also said that teachers play a pivotal role in nurturing students’ potential, but rigid curriculums often restrict their abilities. “Teachers, like clouds, yearn to share their wisdom. By empowering teachers with freedom and resources, we can ensure students are also empowered, strengthening the nation.”
Sinha said that the government, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, is ushering in an educational revolution. “The National Education Policy is not just about reforms; it’s about preparing students with innovative skills, research capabilities, and a readiness to contribute meaningfully to society and the nation,” he added.
He said the blend of values and science is essential to build a sustainable future. “Education should instill ethical responsibilities, creativity, and critical thinking in students. Schools like Mahavir International embody this ethos, integrating cultural values with modern learning,” Sinha said.
He said societal progress requires students and educators to embrace new technologies and sustainable practices. “The education system must evolve to promote innovation, foster inclusivity, and prepare students for the challenges of the future,” he added.
Sinha said that there is need for Knowledge Revolution for leading India into a developed nation and to sustain all round growth in different sectors of the economy. “In J&K, capacity building and developing schools as centers of excellence has been one of my objectives and we created a dynamic and competitive environment of learning to harness the power of the innovative ideas of the students”, he added.
On the occasion, the Lieutenant Governor felicitated the students who excelled in academics and diverse fields and extended his best wishes to them. He also released the poster of Bhajan Video by the students of the school titled “Garud Vahini Vaishnavi”.
Padma Prof Vishwamurti Shastri; Padma Dr SP Varma; Padma Shri Mohan Singh; Padma Romalo Ram; Dr Shakti Kumar Gupta, Executive Director & CEO, AIIMS Jammu and Sh Bishan Singh Dardi were honoured for their significant contribution in their respective fields.
Students presented captivating performances highlighting social issues. A pledge to ‘Stop Food Wastage’ was also administered to the dignitaries, school management, teachers, students and parents.
Hira Lal Abrol, Chairman, Mahavir International School; Gourav Abrol, Director of the school; Kundan Lal Dogra, Principal, school staff, teachers, students, and parents were present.
