Srinagar, Dec 10: The President of Jammu and Kashmir Anjuman Sharia Shian, Al-Haj Aga Syed Hassan Mousvi Safvi, Tuesday stressed on the importance of allowing the Syrian people to determine their own destiny and future.
In a statement issued here, he expressed deep concern over the ongoing crisis in Syria, condemning the involvement of forces backed by terrorist plots that have exacerbated the nation’s turmoil.
Aga Hassan stressed that the people of Syria, including those displaced and living as refugees, must be given safe zones based on their preferences rather than being subjected to coercion driven by terror. He highlighted the urgent need to hear the voices of Syrians regarding their fate and future, insisting that their rights must not be ignored or suppressed. He called for the immediate initiation of a dialogue process to create a platform where the aspirations of the Syrian people can be addressed. Aga Hassan also underscored the critical importance of protecting religious places and shrines, warning that neglecting their safety could lead to disastrous consequences, akin to “lighting a matchstick in a barrel.”
In his appeal, Aga Hassan urged peacekeepers and human rights organizations to ensure the security of these sacred sites, which hold immense spiritual and cultural significance. “The protection of these shrines is vital, as they represent a beacon of faith and unity during these turbulent times,” he remarked. Aga Hassan called on the international community to prioritize the voices and safety of the Syrian people while working towards restoring peace and stability in the region.
