Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Altaf Thakur has criticized the Advisor to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, accusing him of failing in his duties and contributing to the alleged inefficiency of the National Conference (NC)-led government.

Thakur stated that the Advisor, whose salary and benefits are paid from the public exchequer, is responsible for ensuring the government functions effectively. “If the Omar Abdullah-led government is working in a purposeless manner, the Advisor to the CM is equally to blame for the lack of direction,” he asserted.

Highlighting the government’s perceived lack of progress, Thakur said that three months since taking office, the NC government has yet to deliver on its promises or showcase any notable achievements. “This government has failed to address the basic needs of the people of the Union Territory as outlined in its election manifesto,” he added.

Thakur also took aim at the NC’s approach to governance, calling out “sluggish ministers” who prioritize their comfort over public welfare. He pointed to recent tragedies, including the mysterious deaths of infants, as evidence of the government’s inability to address urgent issues.

Regarding the NC’s plans to develop Sonamarg for snow activities to boost tourism, Thakur criticized NC leaders and questioned the absence of the area’s Member of Parliament during the inauguration of the Z-Morh tunnel, a significant development for the area. He accused NC representatives of neglecting their basic duties and failing to serve the public diligently.

Thakur further questioned the NC’s sincerity in addressing public concerns, saying, “How can the ‘Dil ki doori’ (distance of hearts) be bridged when your hearts are filled with hate, politics, and selfish motives?”

The BJP spokesperson emphasized that his party, as a responsible opposition, would continue to raise issues of public importance, including those related to security, safety, and governance. Thakur urged the CM and his advisor to “put their house in order” and focus on serving the people instead of indulging in party politics.
