Srinagar, June 08: In the wake of the recently concluded Parliamentary elections 2024, Vijay Kumar, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Armed/L&O J&K, paid a visit to the Armed Police Complex (APC) in Parihaspora. The purpose of the visit was to engage with Jawans and officers from the Armed units during a joint Darbar, which included personnel from the IRP-3rd, IRP-9th, IRP-20th, and 21st Battalions.
Addressing the assembled officers and personnel, the ADGP lauded the commendable efforts of the J&K Police and security forces in ensuring a peaceful and incident-free election. He attributed the successful conduct of the polls to the dedicated efforts of the police and security forces, which created a secure environment that encouraged a high voter turnout.
ADGP Kumar emphasised the importance of maintaining this momentum for the upcoming ShriAmarnathjiYatra 2024 and the assembly elections later this year.
The ADGP also sought feedback from the personnel regarding their experiences and challenges faced during the five-phased election duties. He listened to the grievances related to service matters presented by the personnel. Notably, 34 personnel made oral representations concerning transfers due to domestic issues. Responding promptly, the ADGP issued on-the-spot directions for addressing these transfer requests.
Furthermore, ADGP Kumar underscored the importance of exemplary behaviour while interacting with the public, especially during the ShriAmarnathjiYatra duties, which see pilgrims from across the country visiting the Union Territory. He stressed that personnel should be smartly turned out, alert, and take pride in wearing their uniforms, upholding the reputation of J&K Police as one of the most professional forces in the country.
The Darbar was attended by several senior officials, including DIG AP Kashmir ShahidMehraj-IPS, DIG IRP AbQayoom-IPS, and Staff Officer to ADGP Armed ShriDalip Kumar-SSP. Also present were APC Parihaspora-based Commandants Mahmood Ahmed-SSP Commandant IRP 21st Battalion, Hakim Munshi-SSP Commandant IRP-3rd Battalion, Munir Ahmad-SSP, Dy Co I/C CO IR-20th Battalion, Azhar Bashir SSP APCR Kashmir, along with other officers and personnel from the four units.
