ACS Education visits Amar Singh College, reviews functioning

Srinagar, Feb 28: Additional Chief Secretary (ACS), Education, Shantmanu, Friday visited the Amar Singh College to review the functioning.
The ACS was accompanied by Director Colleges, Professor Sheikh Ajaz Bashir. Principal, Professor Aijaz Ahmad Hakak, presented a comprehensive presentation on the academic, administrative and developmental progress of the institution besides its future vision plan.
During his visit, Shantmanu had a detailed review of the college’s academic performance, enrolment trends, gender parity, student-faculty ratio and infrastructural development. He also inspected the newly constructed state-of-the-art Science Block and the fully automated college library, equipped with RFID technology. The college librarian demonstrated the automated system, showcasing searching, issuance and return of books efficiently through the RFID system. Interacting with the Principal and faculty members, Shantmanu emphasised the importance of competency-building for personal excellence. He highlighted key areas such as role of the Art of Living in professional growth, drug de-addiction initiatives and mental health support for students. The visit concluded with the ACS reiterating the commitment of the Higher Education Department towards fostering academic excellence and holistic student development in the region.

Shantmanu inspects exam centres of class XI in Sgr
Additional Chief Secretary (ACS), Education, Shantmanu, Friday visited different schools in Srinagar district and inspected several examination centres of class XI and reviewed the facilities being provided to the students there.
During the inspection, the Additional Chief Secretary was accompanied by Director School Education, Kashmir, Dr. G N Itoo, who briefed him about the arrangements made by the department in connection with the ongoing examinations for class XI. While inspecting the examination centre at Girls Higher Secondary School Kothibagh, the ACS interacted with the students and enquired about the examination papers and other facilities being provided to them. The Additional Chief Secretary expressed satisfaction over the arrangements made by the School Education Department at the examination centres. He directed all the school heads to make adequate heating arrangements in the examination halls in view of the inclement weather in the region.
