Srinagar, June 13: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday said it successfully trapped and arrested a Patwari in Jammu, along with his agent for accepting a bribe.
The ACB in a statement said Parvez Ahmed, Patwari of Halqa Gurha Manhasan, Pargwal, Jammu, along with his agent Vijay Kumar alias Babbu (Ex-Panch) was trapped and arrested for accepting a bribe of 25,000 rupees.
The bureau said it received a complaint alleging that Parvez Ahmed was demanding a bribe of Rs 30,000 for entering the court’s directions into the revenue records concerning land measuring 17 marlas under Khasra No. 654, located at Gurha Manhasan, Tehsil Pargwal, Jammu. The complainant sought legal action against the Patwari as he did not want to pay the bribe.
Upon receiving the complaint, a Case FIR No. 07/2024 U/S 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 r/w 120-B IPC was registered at the ACB Police Station in Jammu, the ACB said.
“During the investigation, a trap team was constituted, which successfully caught Parvez Ahmed and Vijay Kumar alias Babbu red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 from the complainant. Both accused were arrested on the spot,” it said.
“House searches are being conducted at the residences of both accused individuals, and these searches are ongoing,” the ACB said, adding that further investigation of the case is in progress.
