Jammu, Dec 31: Aam Aadmi Party on Saturday took out a ‘cremation  of democracy’ rally in front of ECI’s Jammu office against delay in holding of elections.
An official spokesperson of the party said the rally was organised to expose alleged failure of Election Commission of India as well as Bhartiya Janta Party of restoring democracy in Jammu and Kashmir,
“The aim of organising this cremation rally (Shav Yatra) was to highlight how the democratic rights of people of Jammu and Kashmir have been murdered and assembly elections are being delayed as BJP wants to continue its proxy rule in the form of bureaucratic setup headed by LG administration”.
The rally was led by Chairman of Aam Aadmi Party’s state coordination committee and former minister, Harsh Dev Singh who was accompanied by several senior party leaders and workers and it was taken out in front of ECI’s Jammu office.
Addressing this rally, Harsh Dev Singh said that state assembly was dissolved in Jammu and Kashmir years ago and there is no public elected government in Jammu and Kashmir since more than four years and this is a record in itself as no other region in country would have ever witnessed this prolong suspension of government and delay in holding fresh elections.
Singh said that there is no publicly elected government in Jammu and Kashmir for more than 4 years and it clearly means that there is no democracy and both BJP and ECI are jointly responsible for depriving the people of Jammu and Kashmir from their democratic rights.
He said that the main reason for delay in holding assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir is BJP’s intention to continue with its proxy rule in the form of bureaucratic setup headed by LG administration as it is an indirect form of Government of BJP in Jammu and Kashmir.
AAP’s Harsh Dev Singh further said that BJP is also delaying assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir as it is well aware of anger within the masses of Jammu and Kashmir who are ready to teach BJP a lesson for its anti people policies and BJP is fearing from this backlash.
