PSA participates in anti-drug rally in Srinagar

Education key to building drug-free society: Gen. Secy. M. Syed Wani

Srinagar, May 03: Private Schools’ Association (PSA) spearheaded large-scale participation of schools in a mass anti-drug rally held in Srinagar under the broader campaign launched by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.

 

The rally, flagged off from TRC Football Stadium, witnessed an overwhelming turnout of students, teachers, civil society members and youth, reflecting a strong collective resolve to eradicate the menace of substance abuse from Jammu & Kashmir.

 

The initiative, led by the LG under “zero tolerance” policy against drug trafficking, aims to dismantle drug networks through intensified awareness campaigns. The drive emphasizes community participation as a cornerstone in building a drug-free society.

 

The PSA, in collaboration with the Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK), Bharat Scouts and Guides and various other departments played a pivotal role in mobilizing schools and ensuring enthusiastic participation from the student community.

 

The presence of thousands of students carrying awareness placards and raising anti-drug slogans added significant impact to the padyatra, drawing widespread appreciation.

 

PSA Patron, G.N. Var, termed the initiative as “a great move,” stating “Such collective efforts instill discipline, unity and a sense of social responsibility among students.

 

Engaging young minds in meaningful activities like this rally not only strengthens community bonding but also encourages them to contribute positively towards nation-building.”

 

PSA President, Bilal Ahmad Bhat, lauded the initiative and expressed gratitude to all stakeholders for their active involvement.

 

He stated “We sincerely thank all participating schools, dedicated teachers and energetic students for making this mass rally a grand success.

 

The fight against drug abuse requires sustained collective efforts and PSA remains fully committed to organizing such impactful awareness programmes to safeguard our youth and future generations.”

 

General Secretary, M. Syed Wani, emphasized the importance of institutional responsibility in addressing social challenges He said “Educational institutions must play a frontline role in shaping awareness and resilience among students. Through such initiatives, we aim to empower our youth to make informed and responsible choices, steering them away from harmful influences.”

 

PSA Director, Media & Communication, PSA, Dr. Owais Mattoo highlighted the significance of consistent public engagement He said “This rally is not just an event, but part of a sustained communication strategy to raise awareness at every level of society. We believe that informed communities are stronger communities, capable of resisting the spread of drug abuse.”

 

The mega rally was coordinated under the leadership of PSA representatives, with active participation from Dr. Owais Mattoo, District President Srinagar Aadil Habeeb and PRO B.A Shah, who ensured seamless organization and mobilization at the grassroots level.

 

The campaign marks a significant step in the Jammu & Kashmir administration’s broader vision of ensuring a drug-free society, with PSA reaffirming its unwavering support to all such initiatives aimed at protecting and empowering the youth.
