In a continued effort to combat drug abuse in the area, Baramulla Police arrested Municipal Ward member Barkat Ali Mia and recovered 200 tablets of Spasmo Proxyvon and 10 bottles of Codeine Phosphate at Railway Crossing Pattan.
The arrest was made under the supervision of Sh Altaf Ahmad-JKPS, Incharge SDPO Pattan and assisted by Inspector Sarjan Ahmad, SHO Police Station Pattan.
A police official said that upon personal search, the police discovered the drugs in Barkat Ali Mia’s possession and took him into custody.
A case has been registered under the NDPS Act at the Pattan Police Station and investigations are underway.
The people of the area have expressed their appreciation for the efforts of the Baramulla Police in combating drug abuse and have pledged their support to help eradicate the menace of drugs from the society.
