42% increase recorded in candidates appearing for SKUAST-J CET UG 2023

Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J), under the guidance and leadership of Prof. S.K. Gupta, Vice Chancellor today conducted Common Entrance Test-2023 (CET) for admission to the undergraduate degree programmes in different faculties for the academic session 2023-24.

 

The Vice Chancellor visited all the centers to oversee the conduct of the examination. The examination was conducted under the supervision of Prof Rajinder Peshin, I/C University Examination Cell, SKUAST-Jammu. The entrance examination was held at 5 different centers located at GGM Science College, Jammu; SPMR, Commerce College, Jammu; Padma Shri Padma Sachdev Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar; Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, R S Pura and Faculty of Agriculture, Chatha.

An overwhelming response is received for admission to various professional undergraduate programmes in the university. Out of total 3291 applicants, 2775 including the candidates from other states appeared in the CET-2023 which comes to 84.30 per cent of the total applicants for admission to B.Sc Hons Agriculture, B.V.Sc &AH, B.Tech Biotechnology, B.Sc Hons Horticulture, B.Tech Agricultural Engineering, B.Tech Dairy Technology for 337 seats including 19 seats for economically weaker sections of the society.

Besides these, there is ICAR and Veterinary Council quota of 39 seats and state govt quota of 08 seats which is over and above the sanctioned strength of seats. This year the number of candidates was the highest as compared to last year. The applicants were 32.3 percent more and there was 42.5 percent increase in candidates appearing for the test as compared to the year 2022.

The test was conducted smoothly with appreciable support of the staff and the Principals and Deans of the above mentioned institutions. The university Flying Squad consists of Dr. Rakesh Nanda, Director Education; Dr. S. K. Gupta, Registrar; Dr. B. C. Sharma, Dean, FoA visited the centers to oversee the conduct of the entrance examination, said Prof Rajinder Peshin, I/C University Examination Cell, SKUAST-Jammu.

The university will also upload the answer key on the university website. Besides, the result, schedule of the counseling and other updates shall be available on the university website www.skuast.org. The university also seeks objections to the answer key of the entrance test within a stipulated time after uploading the same on the university website. The students were allowed to take with them a carbon copy of the answer sheet for their record.
