Srinagar, June 07: The Union Ministry of Culture has advised the concerned implementing agencies in Jammu & Kashmir to prepare Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) and other requisite documents for the proposed auditoriums at Bandipora, Baramulla, Beerwah and Kupwara, following the intervention of Member of Parliament Er Rashid, who had raised the issue with the Union Finance Minister seeking financial assistance for these important cultural infrastructure projects.

Sharing details of the communication received from the Ministry of Culture, AIP Chief Spokesperson Inam Un Nabi said that Er Rashid, in his letter addressed to the Union Finance Minister, had sought financial assistance for the construction of auditoriums in Bandipora, Baramulla, Beerwah and Kupwara, besides release of funds for completion and finishing works of the already constructed auditorium at Hangah, Handwara.

The Ministry, in its response, informed the MP Er Rashid that the issues raised by him have been examined and that the scheme “Financial Assistance for Creation of Tagore Cultural Complexes (TCCs)” is undergoing a revamp, while a new scheme comprising infrastructure-related components, including Tagore Cultural Complexes, is presently under finalisation.

Quoting from the Ministry’s communication, Inam Un Nabi said that the Ministry has advised the concerned agencies to “prepare the detailed project proposals, including DPRs, technical estimates, land status, details of executing agency and present status of works for submission to this Ministry for consideration under the fresh scheme, as and when the revised scheme guidelines are notified.”

Inam Un Nabi termed the response a significant and encouraging development for North Kashmir and said it reflects MP Er Rashid’s continued efforts to pursue developmental projects for the people of the Baramulla Parliamentary Constituency.

He said the proposed auditoriums would provide much-needed infrastructure for cultural, literary, educational and social activities across the region, while the completion of the auditorium at Hangah, Handwara would fulfil a long-pending public demand.

The AIP Chief Spokesperson Inam Un Nabi urged the concerned departments, district administrations and implementing agencies to immediately begin preparation of DPRs and other required documentation so that these projects are in a position to secure funding as soon as the revised scheme is notified by the Government of India.

Inam Un Nabi reiterated that Er Rashid remains committed to raising developmental issues of public importance before the concerned ministries and ensuring that the aspirations of the people of North Kashmir receive due attention.
