Leh, Feb 26: The members of Haj Committee of union territory of Ladakh on Sunday called on Lieutenant Governor (LG), Ladakh, BD Mishra at Raj Niwas.
The delegation led by its Chairperson, Mohd Ali Majaz and members including Mohd Ali Chandan, Nazir Ahmed and Mirza Hussain requested for his assistance to increase the quota of Haj pilgrims from Ladakh.
On the occasion, other issues were also put forth by a delegation before LG.
Majaz informed LG about the formation of the Haj Committee Ladakh comprising six members almost two months ago. He also informed that the headquarter of the Haj Committee is at Kargil for which they demanded setting up of office. He further informed that the last date for submitting online applications for Haj pilgrims is the first week of March.
Majaz led delegation also requested capacity-building training for the members of the Haj Committee to enable them to provide the best possible services to the Haj pilgrims.
The delegation also requested LG to allow “few members of the committee to accompany Haj pilgrims for their assistance during their journey.”
The LG gave a patient hearing and assured them of his full support.
