Baramulla, Sep 03: Baramulla Police, in a joint operation, arrested two overground workers (OGWs) of terror outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba near the Shrakhwara Wagoora area in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district. They also recovered a pistol and a hand grenade from their possession.
A police official said that on September 3, joint teams from the Special Operations Group (SOG) Kreeri and 52 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), acting on specific intelligence, established a joint checkpoint at Shrakwara near Bus Stop Sharkwara.
“During the checkpoint inspection, suspicious movement of two persons coming from the Wagoora Bridge side on foot was observed,” the police official said.
The police official explained that upon noticing the police party and security forces, the two persons attempted to flee but were apprehended by the checkpoint team.
“Upon initial questioning, the two persons were identified as Tawseef Ramazan Bhat, son of Mohammad Ramzan Bhat, and Moien Amin Bhat, alias Momin, son of Mohammad Amin Bhat, both residents of Bada Mulla, Sheeri Baramulla,” he added.
Baramulla Police reported that they recovered a Chinese pistol with a magazine and 15 rounds from Moien Amin Bhat and a hand grenade from Tawseef Ramazan Bhat. “Both individuals have been identified as OGWs for Lashkar-e-Toiba,” the police said.
The police further stated that the arrested duo disclosed that they had been in constant contact with LeT handlers and had been passing information to Pakistani terrorist handlers. “They were planning to become active as terrorists and carry out attacks on security forces and targeted killings,” the police added. Baramulla police confirmed that a case has been registered under FIR No. 111/2023, U/S 7/25 IA Act, 13, 18, 20, 23, 38, 39 UA(P) act, and an investigation has been initiated.
